TWO REMAINING PORT COMMISSIONERS SETS DISPUTED MEETING DATE AND TIME.
I attend the Port of Port Angeles meeting this last Tuesday, perhaps you will see your's truly sitting in the crowd of on lookers while Port Commissioner Jim Hallett gave his farewell speech which was videoed taped on posted on the Clallam County Public Eye you tube page. Before the meeting started I had a chance to speak with Hallet, and told him he will be missed at the meetings. Because apparently that was proven correctly, because from what I seen thus far the only dissenting vote, which could have came in handy in regards of setting the meeting time and date, if he had not resigned. Because the ironic twist was in the end, both of the remaining Port Commissioners were in a stalemate over you guessed it, meeting schedules! They were divided temporally over issues of work sessions, and special meetings which they were wanting to have during the course of weeks of the regular Port meeting.

You have to watch this on Public Eye you tube to get the jest of this little division between
Beauvais, and McAleer. However in the end McAleer said in the interest of spirit of cooperation she yielded to Beauvais having work sessions during the week prior to the regular meeting, which was set by the way on the second and forth Monday's of the month at 1:PM! The point I am making in this is that if McAleer would have stood her ground over work session times and dates, they would have been hopelessly deadlocked! Because they no longer have dissenting vote! Which by the way caused the consultant looking for a new Port Director to withhold some eliminates in his work in finding a new director, he said during the meeting that since the commissioner is looking for a new member, some of the search process and interviewing potential directors might have to wait until a new Port Commissioner is selected.
So this begs the question, who will step up to the plate left by Hallett? I have a hunch, but I am waiting to see the next shoe to drop on this one.

CITY OF PORT ANGELES AGENDA HIGHLIGHT ITEMS:
Formation of Board of Ethics to Hear Complaint: Recently a complaint was filed against Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd alleging that she had violated the City’s Code of Ethical Conduct. The Port Angeles Municipal Code directs that Council assemble a three-member Board of Ethics to receive, investigate and make recommendations for disposition of the complaint. --page I-1 of agenda packet.
Proposed Ad Hoc Committee to Explore Fluoridation Alternatives:
On January 19, 2016, Council voted to form an ad hoc committee to discuss community water
fluoridation alternatives. Councilmembers Bruch and Collins were assigned to lead the
committee and to work with staff to form a proposed structure for the committee which would be brought back to Council for consideration.
On February 9, 2016, Councilmembers Bruch and Collins met with City Manager Dan McKeen
regarding the committee. They determined the goal of the committee is: To bridge the divide that exists in the community related to the issue of fluoridation, and to look for viable alternatives that recognize the importance of oral health in the community.
Councilmembers Bruch and Collins drafted and agreed upon a list of proposed members, taking
into account that the committee not be too large, but included members from both the “for” and “against” fluoridation sides, as well as two neutral members and a representative from the Utility Advisory Committee.
The proposed list of members includes:
“Against” community water fluoridation
• Jake Oppelt, Port Angeles business owner
• Janet Kailin, Port Angeles resident
“For” community water fluoridation
• Chris Frank, Clallam County Health Officer
• Alan Peet, President of the Olympic Peninsula Dental Society
Neutral members
• Marc Jackson, Superintendent of the Port Angeles School District
• Mike Chapman, Clallam County Commissioner
Utility Advisory Committee Representative
• Betsy Wharton, UAC Citizen-at-large Member
The above-listed people were contacted about the possibility of serving on the ad hoc committee should the structure of the committee meet approval by the full Council. --pages I-4&5 of agenda packet

Editorial Comment: If this board comes up with a acceptable and reasonable alternative, and all concerned is satisfied, will the council approve of the alternative measures, or will they ignore that too? Remember readers that advisory poll was unbinding, meaning it was set up to be ignored from the beginning.
