“The legacy of Fred Korematsu and his fight for justice is an inspiration to all of us and a reminder of how important it is that people stand up and fight back against discrimination and oppression,” said Senator Patty Murray. “Washington state is all too familiar with the unjust treatment of Japanese-Americans and the impact it had on our families and communities, and I am proud that Washington state has learned from this history and is now on the front lines fighting back against an Administration once again taking our country down an un-American and unconstitutional path.”

Statement from Gov. Jay Inslee regarding court order halting Trump immigration orders
This is a tremendous victory for the State of Washington. Thank you to AG Ferguson and his team for making the case that no person – not even the president – is above the law.
“There is still more to do. The fight isn’t yet won. But we should feel heartened by today’s victory and more resolute than ever that we are fighting on the right side of history.”

Inslee statement on President Trump executive orders restricting refugee assistance and immigration
January 25, 2017
Story
Gov. Jay Inslee today issued the following statement on President Trump’s executive orders:

“The state of Washington has a proud history of inclusivity, tolerance and compassion for all residents. Our diversity of people and cultures is a critical part of who we are, both as a state and as a nation. We will not let President Trump’s orders break faith with our state’s fundamental values.
“The president’s executive orders on immigrants signal that the better angels of our nature will not be realized. These actions, if implemented, would be mean-spirited, unnecessary and contrary to our values as Americans.
“We will not be intimidated or divided. The president this week has reminded us that people’s voices are more important than ever. Together, we will resist any effort that would violate Washington’s values, take away the opportunity for higher education or break up hard-working families.

Editorial Comment: You ask any of the supporters who are wanting refugees in this nation without being vetted first, come and live in their homes, most if not all would say no to that idea. So Washington politicians should set a good example of leadership right, by providing these people shelter in their own homes with them right? I dare say that would come up with excuses in not having these folks anywhere near their families.
