" Monthly Medic 1 utility fees that are now $6.90 per residential ratepayer will increase 4 percent, or 28 cents — $3.36 a year — in January 2017. Businesses pay about $7.20 per ratepayer and will increase by about 29 cents per month."
Editorial Note: The local news establishments didn't have much in the offering this week, and believe me readers I keep a close watch on what the local media publishes. This story from the Peninsula Daily News however, brought this question to mind. With all the drama being played out in the media spotlight of the ethical fire storm will this 28 cent increase on your utility bill go unnoticed? I don't think many would complain to much over a 28 cent increase to the Medic One program, after all the life saving services it covers. On this occasion the increase is warranted. The fire department has to be rebuilt, with more firemen retiring, the department is struggling to hire more firefighters to replace them. I note so far no one on the current City Council as addressed this issue.

CITY TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING CFP JUNE 7th

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Port Angeles will hold a public hearing at the regular City Council meeting of Tuesday, June 7, 2016, and Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., or soon thereafter.
The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public input on the Capital Facilities Plan (CFP) and Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for 2017-2022.
The public hearing will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 321 East Fifth Street. City Hall is accessible for persons with disabilities. If you need any special accommodations to attend the meeting, please contact the City Clerk at 360-417-4634.
Olympic Discovery Trail Open between Ennis Street and Hollywood Beach
On Friday, May 27th, at 9:00 a.m. the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) re-opened between Ennis Street and Hollywood Beach. Construction to repair the bluff and clear the trail was completed ahead of schedule. City crews will remove the remaining barricades and signage from the site allowing the public to freely pass between Francis St. Park and Hollywood Beach.
Please assist the City in protecting the repair work by staying off of any freshly seeded areas around the repair site and the rock buttress.
