Special Wildlife Committee virtual meeting Oct. 9

OLYMPIA – The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission held a retreat and made decisions on a variety of topics during its Sept. 28-30 meeting in Yakima.

Beginning on Thursday and running until noon on Friday, the Commission participated in a retreat facilitated by Triangle Associates, where they discussed Commission processes and procedures.

On Friday, the Commission approved a proposed land transaction to acquire about 650 acres in the Chester Butte Unit of the Sagebrush Flat Wildlife Area in Douglas County, to support protection of shrubsteppe habitat, home to the pygmy rabbit, as well as sharp-tailed and sage grouse habitat.

The Commission adopted an updated Willapa Bay Salmon Management Policy (C-3622) that provides general guidance and management objectives for salmon management in Willapa Bay.

The Commission also heard a briefing and took public comment on proposed revisions to rules for Puget Sound and coastal shellfish meant to improve commercial fishery monitoring.

The Commission meeting concluded Saturday morning with open public input, followed by a future meeting planning discussion.

The Commission’s Wildlife Committee will hold a special virtual meeting on Monday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon to discuss three-year season setting. To watch the committee meeting, view the Commission’s meeting webpage.

Presentation slides and materials are posted on the Commission agenda. The September hybrid meeting was recorded so members of the public can watch at their convenience. The recording, as well as information about past and future Commission meetings and ways to participate, can be found at WDFW’s website.

The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission is a panel appointed by the governor that sets policy for the WDFW. WDFW works to preserve, protect and perpetuate fish, wildlife and ecosystems while providing sustainable fish and wildlife recreational and commercial opportunities.

2) IN FOCUS: DNR to Acquire 170 Acres of Pacific County Forestland

SOURCE LINK: https://www.dnr.wa.gov/news/dnr-acquire-170-acres-pacific-county-forestland

The purchase of the parcel southeast of Raymond is funded with encumbered lands money appropriated to DNR by the Legislature

The Board of Natural Resources approved the purchase of a 170-acre parcel of forested land in Pacific County during its monthly meeting Tuesday morning in Olympia.

The parcel, 14 miles southeast of Raymond, is surrounded on all four sides by state trust lands in the Washington State Department of Natural Resources’ Browning Block. DNR’s road system already connects to the parcel, and the purchase will help provide DNR with legal access to currently isolated land it manages in the area.

The $500,000 purchase will be paid for with funds that the Legislature allocated to DNR to help replace lands encumbered by habitat protection requirements under the Endangered Species Act. The land will be managed to support local services in Pacific County.

“Protecting wildlife habitat on state trust lands to comply with the Endangered Species Act is critical, but Pacific County bore a disproportionate amount of that impact,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz. “Thanks to this funding from the Legislature, we are able to continue working to make Pacific County whole by purchasing productive forests to sustainably manage to support local services and the rural economy.”

DNR has been active in purchasing forestlands in Southwest Washington recently. During its September meeting, the Board approved the acquisition of 182 acres of lands in Clark, Cowlitz, and Pacific counties; during its July meeting, the Board approved the purchase of 114 acres in Wahkiakum County; and in June, the Board approved the purchase of 640 acres of forestland in neighboring Clark County. DNR also added 266 acres of land in Wahkiakum County in 2021.

For decades, DNR has continued to acquire forestlands across the state to support schools and counties. Since 1980, the department has added more than 100,000 acres of sustainably managed forestland to public ownership through its transactions program.

BIBLE VERSE: Psalm 63:1 (New International Version)

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

Elders in Every Church - Part 2

The church of Christ is an organized body of believers in Jesus Christ which is made up of elders, deacons, evangelists, teachers, and other members. Every member of the church must be a worker. He must work according to his ability and the opportunities he has. The apostle Paul wrote: “For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another.” (Romans 12:4-5)--TFTW

EXPOSED: Biden's Deportation of Christian Family Is Modern-Day PERSECUTION

The last two years under Biden’s border policies have seen record numbers of migrants. The highest annual record was 2.2 million last year. The 2023 fiscal year just ended, and we’ve already had 2 million encounters (and those are just the ones we know about). The message to migrants from the Biden administration seems to be, “If you come here illegally, you’ll be rewarded. If you do it the right way, you’re out of luck.” Fifteen years ago, a Christian family from Germany sought asylum in the United States so that they could freely homeschool their children without fear of fines or jail time. They peacefully and lawfully built a life in America. Two of their children were born here. Another two married U.S. citizens. They have been coordinating with our federal government ever since they set foot in America, but they were recently told by ICE to pack their bags. It’s been 10 years since Glenn Beck last interviewed this family, and they return to Mercury Studios in a desperate plea to avoid persecution and jail time in Germany for their beliefs. Why is the Biden administration targeting THEM while turning a blind eye to over 2 MILLION illegal aliens at the southern border? The family claim they were given no answers for why they’re facing deportation now. ICE did provide Glenn TV with a statement to try to explain the rationale, but Romeike lawyer Kevin Boden calls it “baloney! What’s changed in the last 10 years?” Glenn asks Uwe Romeike, “If you can’t stay here, and you aren’t welcome in Germany, where are you going to go?” “I don’t know. God will have to open us another door.”
