PLATYPUS PRESIDENT TO PORT: " YOU HAVE SIX MONTHS TO MAKE ME OFFER OR I'M TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE."

Platypus President, Judson Linnabary
Picture was taken Friday, by Peter Ripley
"We are tired of the work conditions that resembles a third world country." Cites Linnabary who has been in business since 1998. I attended the Port's work session today, in hopes to hear whether or not the Port would consider selling the proposed property to Linnabary who still wants to by the property in question so he can develop the property so it will conform with the standards which the Department of Ecology, regarding storm water run off. Which his company have been cited for by the DOE. He told the commission that Platypus want's to be compliant. He showed pictures of the property in question, and it did resembled a third world environment, complete with a restroom facility which was a porta potty! Not, exactly ADA standards readers.
Linnabary, pointed out the long history between his company, and dealings with the Port on the issues about the storm water drainage issue, and in essence wants the same deal that Westport had, in buying their own property so he can spend close to 5 million over a period of five years to develop the property so it can meet the DOE standards. This could mean more employment opportunities as well for his company if allowed to own the property outright instead of leasing it, which according to a quick interview with this publication after the meeting adjourned. He also told this reporter, that they would go for a final lease proposal provided it had the elements that was in the sales deal that the Port made with West Port Marine. In short readers that would be the final straw for Platypus if the Port don't come up with a viable plan.
Editor's note: Sorry for the lack of details, and any grammar errors but was trying to meet a deadline.

ARE WE TRULY FOSTERING A BUSINESS FRIENDLY CLIMATE IN PORT ANGELES?

BUSINESS & FINANCE REPORT

Haggen to close Port Angeles store, lay off 67 workers on May 10---PDN dated 3.13.16

Editorial Comment: Yesterday, a reader expressed her concerns over the fact that with the pending closure of the Albertsons/Haggen store, the west side of town will be without the convenience of a grocery store nearby. No one likes to see a grocery store close their doors, or 67 people loose their jobs on account of decisions being made on a national corporate level. Grocery stores which are own by big corporations calls the shots of what stores are going to be closed, and there is very little what the local governments can do about it. The governing body of the community can only foster a positive business climate that will attract big corporations to invest in the town. They look at things like does the city have good schools, clean drinking water, property taxes, and industrial Infrastructure that will support their business in the long term. When corporations see schools falling apart and not being replaced with new schools, or when they see the community as a whole not supporting the back bone of their community which is industry they tend to shy away from investing in that community. Plus things like force feeding the public medicated water also plays into that factor. Let alone property taxes and utility rates. When they see things like governmental bodies not allowing the sale of property to expand an already existing industry, they tend to also look on that too, and wonder is it worth our corporation to invest in that community? So what do you think readers, how are we doing fostering a business friendly climate?

DAILY DEVOTIONAL
[ Fruitful Growth in the Faith ] But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
