She was found in violation of ethics code, now she faces a perjury investigation. Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd is in a pickle barrel for sure. Earlier in the week on Sunday, I was asked by a member of the church I attend who do I think is going to win in this ethical drama I told him I see no winners in this ethical firestorm. The following are the facts which thus far been reported in other local publications.

Editorial note: The article posted on the PDN didn't make any mention of the actions of Whetham was or was not doing when the adjournment was being made. From what I read Whetham was merely standing behind the dais after the meeting had been adjourned encouraging further comments from those who stayed after the meeting was dismissed. No mention of hand waving or gestures made by Whetham in the article posted in the PDN back in Feb 2nd.

Editorial note: Kidd still is waiting to be admonished by the council, but sense the entire council is now on the ethical hook, can anyone on the council admonish Kidd with a strait record? As it stands right now, everyone on the council is having their ethics challenged.

Editorial note: The video circling around was done off a I PHONE camera, the video clip being submitted is too dark to make out what was going on back in Feb. 2nd. At least from what I saw. Plus the video was being recorded way back in the room of the council chamber. IPHONE cameras aren't ment to record things from a distance, they are good for close ups. I have a hunch the State Attorney General (AG) will drop the investigation, unless he can make out was going on in the video that was submitted as evidence. However, on the Clallam Public Eye version, the only one who was waving her hands during that meeting was Kidd herself trying to quite the angry crowd.
See time index 2:18;19 Unfortunately the camera which was close to the action was only focusing on Kidd, and not on the other side of the dais where Whetham was at. So those who is submitting these video clips as evidence are going to be hard pressed to prove their case.
So, readers there will be losers on all sides of the issue, but mostly the losers will be this city citizens, and our reputation. As for the seven council members, they are now walking around with a dark cloud over their heads. Can they now govern with any credibility?

SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE PORT ANGELES CITY COUNCIL
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Port Angeles will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The special meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 321 East Fifth Street, for the purpose of a work session regarding Council Rules of Procedure and the preliminary results of the Washington Survey and Rating Bureau’s Fire Protection Evaluation. The special meeting is open to the public.

PA Can closes a great year, looks forward to the next and receives unexpected acknowledgement from the Mayor.
Port Angeles, WA - 19 May 2016 - PA Can, the Port Angeles organization that has been very busy promoting life saving and life changing solutions for drug abuse, child & family health and local employment celebrates a year of success and sets plans for the next year at their inaugural board meeting that also hosted a surprise visit by Mayor Patrick Downey; who came to personally congratulate Angie Gooding and the PA Can team.
PA Can Board Members, meeting for their year-end dinner & planning session, were pleasantly surprised when Mayor Downey joined them to commend results from the first two years, and lend his experience in setting the agenda going forward, including incorporating as a non-profit.
During this busy year PA Can has worked with Oxford homes to expand their search for additional facilities and continues to refer potential residents their way. PA Can has supported continued funding of the County Health and PAPD Naloxone program, which has saved 38 lives locally. PA Can organized the city’s first Overdose Awareness March, last August. This international event was the first time locally that those who lost someone to the scourge of addiction, or had themselves recovered from an overdose, could come together as a group to share their grief, wisdom and drive for a drug free future. PA Can identified an exciting new approach to drug abuse diversion and recovery being operated by a Police department on the East Coast and brought the Police Assisted Addiction Recovery Initiative to the PAPD. In Port Angeles the program will be known as CLEAN and will offer drug abusers who do not have other warrants an opportunity to go to treatment rather than jail. PA Can brought 2 permanent school counselors into the PA School system to help identify children affected by addiction in the family; to help the child cope, the family heal and the addict recover. PA Can is bringing school based Heath Centers into the schools because healthy kids make successful students who avoid temptations. PA Can, along with Revitalize, helped the teen group Pacific Reign get started and was instrumental in their finding a building for the new teen run, teen center. The PA Can Economics Committee has been meeting with employers, employment agencies, government based employment services, unions, industry, other non-profits and officials at all levels to raise awareness of high local unemployment, find solutions to local training needs, attract new industries to Clallam County, inspire and mentor locals to develop their own business ideas, and work toward greater transparency from, and cooperation between all levels of government and government funded developers.
Going forward PA Can will be incorporating as a non-profit, working with national and local representatives to fund drug prevention, diversion and treatment. PA Can will work to expand child and student health, prevent bad choices and provide tools for success in career and life. PA Can will work to develop employment opportunities, improve Clallam based training, increasing access to off-Peninsula training, work with all local agencies and business in a cooperative, transparent, TEAM Clallam based approach that expands Marine industries, light industrial manufacturing, technology and internet based businesses, tourism, and local entrepreneurship. PA Can will be a strong local booster and a promotional voice for the hard working, Can Do attitude of Port Angeles and Clallam County.
Board Members, Angie Gooding, Christina Hurst, Deidra Delgado, Brian Smith, Amy Miller, Kendra Furtaw, and Doc Robinson met at Doc’s to enjoy fantastic Korean BBQ prepared by Doc’s wife Nadya and to work.
PA Can will hold it’s next public meeting in September but that does not mean volunteers are not needed right now. Volunteers are sought to help build and display the PA Can float for the July 4th parade and to staff a PA Can Booth at the County Fair. Experts in effective non-profit design and management and experts in fundraising are both needed to help shape the organization. Volunteers in graphic design and web site design are both needed to help PA Can expand its presence on the net and represent our programs in print. Public Relations experts are sought to help spread our message. And most of all, PA Can is a community based organization always hoping to meet other citizens who share our zeal for building a drug free Port Angeles and Clallam County filled with success and opportunity for all, TEAM Clallam.
