Sen. Murray on Veterans Day: “The Effects of War Do Not End on the Battlefield”
Nov 11 2016 issued press release
(Washington, DC) – Today, Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on Veterans Day.
“Veterans Day is an opportunity to remember the sacrifices made by those who serve our country, and renew our commitment to supporting them. Service in our military brings danger, sacrifice, and putting the needs of others before your own. For those who answer that call, we are eternally grateful. When brave individuals sign up to serve our country, we agree to take care of them. Today I honor the sacrifice of our country’s heroes by continuing the work needed to support and care for them, their families and their fellow veterans. The effects of war do not end on the battlefield or after the Veterans Day parades.
“As the daughter of a World War II veteran, I know we need to acknowledge every individual who has sacrificed for this country, not just on Veterans Day, but every day. I’m proud to be a voice in the U.S. Senate for the 600,000 veterans living in Washington state and for the countless others we have lost. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our veterans, servicemembers, and military families. I will never stop fighting to honor our nation’s promises to our heroes.”
