Updated - $200 Electric Bill Credit Available to Eligible City of Port Angeles Customers.

The City of Port Angeles has partnered with the Washington State Department of Commerce and Promise to distribute funds that help low- and moderate-income households pay their electricity bills.

What is the Clean Energy Credits for Washington Families Program?

This program is offering a one-time bill credit of $200 to eligible electric utility customers. Qualifying customers will have the $200 bill credit applied to their utility account by September 15, 2024.

The Clean Energy Credits for Washington Families Program is supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA). The CCA supports Washington’s climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health. Information about the CCA is available at www.climate.wa.gov.

Eligibility

City of Port Angeles residential utility customers that qualify as low- to moderate-income are eligible. Low- to moderate-income is determined by the average median income (AMI) per county, and by household size. Low-income households earn 80% or less than the AMI, while moderate-income households earn 150% or less than the AMI.

Apply Now Through September 1, 2024

The application is fast and easy. You will need your electric utility account number, the number of people living in your household, and the total gross annual income for 2023 for all adults in your household. After submitting your application, the Washington State Department of Commerce and Promise will send you a text message* to let you know the results. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2024.

Salmon restoration project helps strengthen sockeye population in the Yakima Basin.

In July, we joined our partners in the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan to celebrate completing the plan’s biggest undertaking so far: the Cle Elum juvenile fish passage facility.

This milestone is one part of a larger project at Cle Elum Dam that will improve access to 30 miles of river habitat. It is projected to help increase sockeye return into the Yakima Basin fivefold, from 20,000 to 100,000 each year.

Last year marked the 10-year anniversary of the state’s initial investment in the Integrated Plan, making this celebration a timely closeout to the plan’s first phase – and helping to lay a solid foundation for the next 10 years and beyond./DOE

Projects for communities, by communities — launching the air quality community grant program.

A new grant program will open next week to fund locally led projects in overburdened communities to reduce sources of “criteria” air pollution. Funding new air quality projects for communities by communities is an innovative approach for us. It’s part of our ongoing work to implement the air quality and environmental justice provisions of the Climate Commitment Act (CCA)./DOE

IN FOCUS & LOCAL MEETINGS:

IN FOCUS: WDFW files emergency rules to help prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease.

SPOKANE – Following confirmation of a case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Spokane County in late July, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has filed multiple emergency rules to help prevent the spread of the disease across the state.

CWD is a fatal illness of deer, elk, moose, and caribou. The disease is caused by mutated proteins known as prions, which can contaminate the environment and be transmitted between animals through their feces, saliva, and urine. Most animals with CWD appear normal until the end stages of the disease. It can only be detected through testing of lymph nodes or brain tissue. It is important to prevent a widespread outbreak of CWD in Washington to protect wildlife populations.

The following emergency rule changes relate to CWD. These are summaries of the changes; for the full text of each emergency rule visit WDFW’s Emergency rule change web page.

Baiting- Effective Sept. 1, 2024, in game management units (GMUs) 124, 127, and 130 (PDF) it is unlawful to hunt for deer, elk, and moose using any type of bait placed, exposed, deposited, distributed, scattered, or otherwise used for the purpose of attracting deer, elk, or moose with the intent to hunt them; or natural or synthetic scents that contain or are derived from cervid urine and glandular extracts.

Transport restrictions of dead wildlife- Effective Aug. 23, 2024, it is illegal to transport deer, elk, or moose, or parts thereof, taken from within the 100 series GMUs in areas that require a Washington state hunting license, to other areas of Washington state.  This excludes meat that has been deboned in the state or province where it was harvested and is imported as boned-out meat, or meat that has been deboned within 100 series GMUs and is transported as boned-out meat to other areas of the state.

Mandatory CWD testing for salvaged deer and elk – As of Aug. 23, 2024, anyone who salvages a deer or elk in the CWD initial response area (IRA) of GMUs 124, 127, and 130 must submit the whole head with at least three inches of the neck attached, or extracted retropharyngeal lymph nodes at the base of the skull to WDFW for chronic wasting disease sampling within three days of receiving a salvage permit.

Mandatory reporting of hunting activity- Effective Sept.1, 2024, successful deer, elk, and moose hunters in GMUs 124, 127, and 130 are required to submit the whole head of a harvested animal with at least three inches of the neck attached or extracted retropharyngeal lymph nodes to WDFW for CWD sampling within three days of harvesting.

Information on how to have hunter-harvested or salvaged deer, elk, or moose tested is on WDFW’s CWD web page. There is also information on WDFW’s Chronic Wasting Disease Management Plan.

The Department will propose similar permanent rules for the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission to consider soon.

Weekly Bible Lesson:

Pearls From Philippians - Chapter 2

Paul’s epistle to the Philippians—what a beautiful epistle it is! In our last study together, we highlighted Chapter 1, as we are in a four-part study, devoting one study to each of the four chapters in this book. Of course, by doing that, we may only highlight this great epistle; we cannot examine every rich verse of scripture in it in detail. We might say that we can only extract some of the “Pearls from Philippians.” Oh, and what pearls they are!--TFTW

THIS WEEKS VIDEOS:

We're Not Fighting Harris-Walz This November. We're Fighting GLOBALISM.

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago has made something very clear: We need to stop referring to the 2024 Democrat Party as “liberals.” It’s no longer the party of John F. Kennedy or even Bill Clinton. The majority of the party elites represent something much more dangerous this November election. It’s true that the Harris-Walz record has flashes of communism or Marxism, but Glenn Beck argues that it more closely resembles 21st-century fascism. It’s an ideology that takes its marching orders from something much higher (and it’s not God).

Take a look at the world right now. Every Western country is experiencing cost-of-living riots. Immigration riots. Freedom of speech riots. Everyone is pushing back on the same destructive policies. That’s because — whether they realize it or not — those who prefer FREEDOM are drawing a line in the sand against what is emerging — global government. Glenn connects the dots on the chalkboard like you’ve never seen to reveal a strategy half a century in the making, starting from the late 1940s from the forming of the U.N., the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization all the way through Agenda 21, the Paris accords, and the World Economic Forum. The chalkboard is going to be full, and it all points to one inevitable outcome: One World Order.--Glenn Beck
