* The details of this issue in the work session packet below. Though no one has had a compliant filed, yet, it appears the ethic's virus is spreading to both the County, and maybe even the Port, because Port Commissioner Beauvais, and County Commissioner Peach is mentioned in a letter regarding possible violation. But the author of the letter wrote to Candidate Ron Richards to "fix" the code when he is elected into office...MY! What an assumption to declare Richards will win the election don't you think?
Plus, why wait to fix the issue after an election. The current board could do the "fixing of the code." Which would limit campaign contributions by county staff to just $50.00 as suggested by the letter sent.

CITY TO SEEK LEGAL ASSISTANCE ON ELWHA DAM ISSUES
Perfect timing I would say, the Seattle Times published an article about some of those concerns on Thursday, under the headline:
After the dams: A river of junk runs through unleashed Elwha
Quoting from the article posted: " The two dams have been removed, but the work isn’t done on the Elwha River, on the Olympic Peninsula. Debris endangers boaters, a rock fall threatens fish passage upstream, and a once-again-wild river has washed out campgrounds and a road."
However, the city according to the staff memo is concerned over the impacts that the sediment coming from the river is causing the city's water system.
Quoting from the staff memo provided, which they will discussed during their meeting on Tuesday: "To protect the City’s water rights, water quality, and water quantity on the Elwha, staff recommends the City retain a law firm with expertise in federal issues.
Funding: The funds for this agreement will be taken from the account identified for support of the City’s water treatment plant. As one part of resolution of the City’s claims against NPS, one goal is to reimburse the treatment plant account for all funds used to resolve Elwha dam removal issues.
Recommendation: Authorize and approve the City Manager to execute an agreement with Lane Powell PC to provide legal representation to the City in regard to issues arising from the Elwha dam removal project. (see page I-7 on agenda packet for further details

The Port Commission established the Timber Advisory Committee (TAC) by resolution in May 2016.The committee will advise the Port on timber issues, rules and regulations affecting timber harvests, environmental issues and opportunities for advanced wood products supply and manufacturing. The committee will consist of nine (9) members representing a broad cross-section of stakeholders with interests in the timber industry. Members will be appointed by the Commission for a term of three (3) years. New Marina Advisory Committee Accepting Applications
The Port Commission established the Marina Advisory Committee (MAC) by resolution in April 2016. The committee will advise the Port over the roles of marinas as a community asset, on environmental issues and as the Commission directs, including boating culture, waterfront events, safety, capital improvements, marketing, strategic planning, clean harbor practices and education.
The committee will consist of eleven (11) members representing a broad cross-section of stakeholders with interests in John Wayne Marina, Port Angeles Boat Haven or both marinas. Members will be appointed by the Commission for a term of three (3) years.

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Port Angeles will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 321 East Fifth Street.

As I see it Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd, does not know when it is time to walk away from the position as council member, because she been on the council now close to ten years, and to some power is an addiction. She can still have her dignity and walk away from the posting and retire from public affairs. The question is would she do it for the sake of the community?
