As the Port scrambles to fashion out a new lease which may have some of the same elements in the sale agreement with West Port Marine way back in 2008. The Port's image of a slum lord in regards to Platypus property as become quite evident as shown in the pictures that Platypus President, Judson Linnabary shared with the Port Commission on Monday. Since the Port seemed reluctant to even to entertain the notion of a all out sales agreement, which West Port Marine was fortunate to get. The Port once again will offer Linnabury yet another lease that may have the same elements as West Port got. In essence readers the Port still wants to play the part of the land lord in this. If that's the case, then the property they are leasing to the business is their problem to fix, which also makes them in this case a slum lord. I can see the marketing department at work here readers, "Come see our slums for rent!" The Port should be embarrassed by what been going on down there. Really readers, Platypus not only has to deal with storm water drainage issues, they also get the back wash from their neighbor...West Port Marine. Is it any wonder why Linnabary is fed up with the land lord which is the Port? I intend to take a trip down there and check it out first hand...so stay tune. Can't wait to see the porta potty the employees use for a restroom...ADA would just love to see this! So, readers the Port's Image of a slum lord is apparent...They have six months to fix it.
Platypus presents Port of Port Angeles commissioners with ultimatum---PDN
Quote from the article reflecting what the Port Said during the work session on which I attended: "Commissioners agreed to work quickly to address his grievances, beginning with exploring ways a lease could be written to protect both Platypus and the port.I don't want you go anywhere, especially when it's something we can fix, said Burke.
So, readers the question remains, will the lost of 60 jobs be worth the five archers of property that Linnabary wants to buy outright and develop on his own as West Port done? Or will the Port be left holding the image of leasing out a mud pit?
